Relationship history — formatting

In an application to sponsor a spouse or partner, it is common to include an account of the couple's story: how you met, key milestones, life together. You write the account; the generator formats it as a letter, with your spouse's or partner's identity and the nature of your relationship.

The document can be produced in English or French. The text you write is not translated.

Official form required in some cases

  • IMM 5532 — Relationship Information and Sponsorship Evaluation (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). To sponsor a spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner, this form is required; it is completed by the sponsor and the person being sponsored. This letter can only supplement it. checked on September 27, 2026
