Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Answers to the most common questions before you book your session.
How much does an oath session cost?
CAD $29 for a 15-minute session, including up to three documents processed during the same meeting. The price is fixed: no extra fee is added for additional documents, as long as they can be handled within the session.
What documents can I have commissioned?
Up to three PDF documents per session. The commissioner checks their eligibility before the appointment and may ask for a correction or refuse a non-compliant case.
Can I have a document intended for an apostille authenticated?
No. Commissioners for oaths cannot handle documents intended for an apostille, nor certify true copies. Check with the relevant authority for this type of request.
Can the commissioner give me legal advice?
No. The commissioner receives your oath or solemn affirmation, but does not provide legal advice, does not draft documents, and is not a substitute for a notary or a lawyer.
How can I verify the commissioner is properly authorized?
You can check the official Government of Québec registry to confirm a person is indeed appointed as a commissioner for oaths.
How does identity verification work?
During the video session, you show a valid piece of ID to the camera. The commissioner confirms it matches your information before continuing.
Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Cancelling at least 12 hours before the session gives you a full refund. Within 12 hours, or in case of a no-show, no refund is provided, except for a technical failure on our end. To cancel or change the time of an appointment, contact us.
What happens if my document is rejected?
If the commissioner cannot process your document, you are refunded. If a simple correction is possible, you're asked to upload a new version, at no extra charge.
Are my documents safe?
Yes. Your documents are kept in a private space, accessible only to you and the commissioner responsible for your case, and are never made public.
What time zone are appointments in?
All appointments are set to Montréal time. Your device usually adjusts the display if you're elsewhere — double-check before confirming.
What do I need for the session?
A device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, a valid piece of ID, and your documents already uploaded before the meeting.
