Resignation letter — formatting

A resignation letter tells your employer in writing that you are leaving your position and when your employment ends. The generator writes it from your answers: employer, position held, and last day of work.

The document can be produced in English or French.

What is this template for?

It confirms your resignation in writing, with your last day of work.

When can it be used?

  • Announcing your resignation to your employer
  • Confirming in writing a resignation announced verbally
  • Keeping a dated record of the end of your employment

Before using it

The Act respecting labour standards sets no notice of resignation, but the Civil Code of Québec requires giving the employer reasonable notice. Also check your employment contract or collective agreement before choosing your last day of work.
